Hello all!
We are going to take the first steps in your TOK journey with a little bit about YOU and how you know things. Your assignment has three parts...first, you will be viewing and learning about the TOK Ways of Knowing. Second, you will be doing a short reflection using you and the Ways of Knowing. Last, you will be finding a text that you feels illustrates a combination of the Ways of Knowing.
**Before you start, please open a new Google Doc to work in**
You will need to get a sharable link for this Doc and use the drop box on the "TOK important stuff" page on this website to submit your work...let me know if you have trouble!
Before you launch, one more thing...
I will be at the Wright Farms Anythink from 2-5 pm on Monday 6/10 - please take advantage of this time to get TOK, CAS and/or Extended Essay work done!
Part 1: The Ways of Knowing Presentation
(click above for presentation)
View the presentation. Read the descriptions for each of the Ways of Knowing (WOK). Think about how you know the things you know. Take notes on the Ways of Knowing...may I suggest Cornell Notes? If you haven't ever tried this system, watch this VIDEO for a brief explanation - I think it is a VERY effective way to view/retain info about the WOK!
Part 2: Reflection
You will now need that Google doc I mentioned at the beginning of the assignment so that you can write a brief reflection answering the following questions - use your notes from Part 1:
1) Which WOKs do you rely on to gather, evaluate, share, etc. knowledge in your life? Explain why you think you rely on these WOK.
2) Which of the WOK would you deem "unreliable"? Why, in your opinion, are they unreliable?
Part 3: Example texts
Your last task is to find a text (article, video, print ad, blog, etc.) that you feel requires multiple WOK to process the knowledge it is communicating. Write a BRIEF statement (in the same doc) about which WOK you believe are required to access, process and evaluate the knowledge being communicated.
Here is my example:
(I feel like it needs emotion, sense perception, language)
